Terrassenhaus Berlin is a concrete mixed-use block in Berlin by Brandlhuber+ Emde, Burlon and Muck Petzet Architekten that has a series of external terraces. Two large staircases connect the five-storey concrete building, which houses apartments and gallery spaces and is topped by a public roof terrace.
The project serves as a commercial building but could become a residential site, engages with the unique qualities of the location. The site faces onto the suburban railway track, offering a wide view towards the south. The building’s levels are staggered, creating a ziggurat-like shape with six metre deep terraces on each floor and a maximized semi-public space.

Building built with Fixed central cores, elevators and bathrooms, allowing the spatial saperation made by residents themselves. The space of the building has a high Spatial adabtability.

In the residential area, waterproof and light-proof curtains are used to divide the external public platform space
and the internal private space. There is a strong connection between the spaces, the designer hopes to strengthen the connection between residents through semi-public space.
